Love isn't a Mental Sickness

Let us see what happens when something does not go in our way. For example, a heartbreak.

YES. A heartbreak.

What will we do?

Most of us will say, "I can't help it, I fell in love."
Typical.
Absolutely.
But of course, it isn't right.

First, it puts love on a negative pedestal. It's like I fell in love, so I can't help it when I lie, kill, cheat and steal because I did it for the one I love. And personally it really ticks me off. It's like love is a mental sickness, which causes someone to see things in a different perspective. In the name of love, lying is "protecting the truth so we can be together" , killing is "protecting her and our love", cheating is "fighting and preserving our love against all odds" and stealing is a "way of provision".

This is unfair.

Because by this love, Jesus died in the cross for us. But we regard it as a mental sickness, a camouflage to sin and an excuse on not doing what is right.

Second, it goes to show that love is uncontrollable, even by our own intellect. Well, how can we ever deny this? We kept on having this battle within our own selves that love and the mind are in two different paths. That might be true. But of course, it is by your own knowledge that you take the path. You know it's wrong. Your friends tell you it's wrong. But you insist. You do it because you cannot control the feelings that made you choose. And that was very much disappointing. It only goes uncontrollable when you let yourself get controlled by it. Because love is both a decision and a choice. It is not in the context of choosing, but deciding if ever you can cope up with your choice. Yet most of us, do the exact opposite.

Please. Poor love. It gets blamed whenever people make the wrong choice in their lives. Because of their faulty decision making and poor discernment, love gets degraded and cursed. When it shouldn't be. Look it up on God's dictionary. Love isn't something like a mental ailment. Jesus didn't have psychological problems being nailed on the Cross. So please, let us spare love on harsh judgments. When your intellect fails, admit it. :)
